Crater 2 Coast
21.1km from Koroit to Warrnambool
From the Crater of Koroit’s Tower Hill to Warrnambool’s main beach. You will follow the rail trail through dairy country, over marsh wetlands, via dunes and along the Merri river to Warrnambool’s lake Pertobe
On-line registration will be available prior to each years event and will have an “early bird” discount, ….But because we’re small enough you can also register on the morning of the event, but arrive early!
No Need to Hitch
A bus is provided from the finish line to the start. This will leave an hour prior to each event.
(That’s 7:00am walkers and 8:00am for the run)
We’re a small club and so you wont receive your bib in the mail, rather you will have to collect it prior to the event from our volunteer helpers. So allow time for this process
Historical Central Koroit to Warrnambool’s Lake Pertobe
The race starts in the center of Koroit on the corner of North St and Commercial Rd. We follow the rail trail which includes several road crossings, please use caution and give way to vehicles. Once we reach the end of the rail trail the half marathon course continues down Harris street turns left into Elliot street then again left into Stephens street where it crosses the Merri river via a narrow foot bridge, turning right and proceeding to our club rooms in Lake Pertobe (at the end of Price street)
There is a complimentary bus from the finish line at our club rooms in Pertobe road Warrnambool to the start line in Koroit. One for the walkers and one for the runners. These will leave an hour prior to the start of each event, that is 7am for walkers and 8am for the runners.
There will be entertainment at the finish line as well as soup, fruit, coffee (proper barista coffee) and cold drinks available. So be sure your support crew are there at the finish to see you cross the finish line under our timing clock. We can also transport any “sundry” items you wish to discard prior to the start of the event.
Race packs will need to be collected prior to the start of the race in Koroit, so arrive in time to be marked off the start list and pin your bib to your running top. Excess clothing can be left with our volunteers and we will ensure it is waiting for you at our finish line
There are two council toilets at the start line in Koroit and we have ordered another two porta-loos for the start. We will also have a porta-loo at the halfway point of the run (around the road that leads to Rundell’s Horse Riding). There are drink stations at the 5km Tower Hill Road crossing, 10km near porta-loo at Rundell’s Horse Riding and at the 15km mark on the rail trail in Merrivale.
